The Westborough School Committee wants public input into Westborough's next school superintendent.

A three-question, confidential survey is posted through a link on the district's website. There's a Jan. 6 deadline for completing it. Residents, community members, staff, students, town officials are invited to participate, school officials say on the survey.

"We would like your input on what you perceive to be the district’s most pressing needs and the most important characteristics/experience for our new superintendent to possess," school officials say on the survey.

Westborough School Superintendent Marianne O'Connor recently announced her retirement, effective after this school year.

O'Connor said she has spent nearly 35 years in public and private education, including 22 in Westborough.

School officials have set a Jan. 20 deadline for applications, according to a brochure available through the district's website.

The brochure notes that compensation will be a salary package of $160,000 to $180,000 "commensurate with qualifications and experience," and that the new superintendent will receive a multi-year contract.

Candidate screening interviews are set for the week of Feb. 10, the brochure states.

Finalist site visits are set for the week of March 3.

A finalists public forum is set for the week of March 17. The school committee will interview the finalists during this week, and offer a finalist a contract on March 26. The new superintendent will start on July 1.
