'Outstanding' Start to WHS Seniors' Year

The Class of 2014 drew waves from neighbors and parents as its parade proceeded up Charles Street to the high school on West Main Street.

Wearing tie-dyed shirts, Westborough High School's Class of 2014 ran and walked, and some rode scooters, to begin its final high school year Wednesday morning.

The senior class drew waves from neighbors and parents as its parade proceeded up Charles Street to the high school on West Main Street.

The parade ended at the high school football field, where the scoreboard clock read "20:14"; the students organized themselves into "14"; and new Principal Brian Callaghan addressed the class.

“I think you should just be graduated now. The way you organized yourselves into ‘14’ was outstanding,” he said.

“But, of course, there’s much more to do this year, and I know you guys are looking forward to it.”

Callaghan thanked the students “for how you guys have conducted yourselves thus far, and even in advance of today."

“We continue to expect great things from you guys," he said.

Callaghan thanked the parents and the Westborough Police for their support during the event.

He told the students that the teachers are "ready for you. They're excited about the start of this year, your final year in the Westborough public schools."

Callaghan also thanked Athletic Director Johanna DiCarlo for putting the 20:14 on the scoreboard.
