Hastings Students Support Food Pantry
Hastings is among the Westborough schools that have held food drives this fall.

“It’s wonderful this time of year, with Thanksgiving and the holidays coming up. But it also reminds people we need help throughout the year. Everyone in the community is willing to pitch in,” said Weinwurm, who helps food pantry Director Phil Kittredge in his spare time.
Hastings ELL Specialist Lauren Wiles Pelser said she has organized drives in Westborough since she began working here nine years ago.

Students were involved for the first time, she said. The previous drives were for staff only.
“I wanted children to understand how important it is to give as well,” Pelser said.

Pelser said she gave staff members a writing prompt: “our school food drive can help others by,” and that led to art and writing projects displayed in the school.
Hastings is among the Westborough schools that have held food drives this fall.
Among them are:
- HYPE9: The drive ends Dec. 12. For more information, call 508-836-4444.
- Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce: The drive ends Dec. 12. Donations may be left at the chamber office at 30 Lyman St. or the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Boston-Westborough at 5400 Computer Drive.
- Commerce Bank: The drive ends Friday. Donations may be left at the bank's Westborough branch, at 5 East Main St.
