The Fales school opened 50 years ago this past Monday, Dec. 2.

Fales Elementary School students, staff and community members sung "Happy Birthday" together Friday, and the guest of honor was everywhere.

The Fales school opened 50 years ago this past Monday, Dec. 2.

A school meeting Friday celebrated the milestone with four videos made by Dave Crandall and Marsha Nissenbaum, in which students, staff and community members wished Fales a "Happy Birthday" and reflected on their times as students and-or staff at the school, at 50 Eli Whitney St.

Some also shared their memories of Annie Fales, the educator for whom the school is named.

Music teacher Pamela Yanco led the group in "Happy Birthday," as well as songs from 1963, such as "Puff, the Magic Dragon."
