Boston Magazine Ranks Westborough Schools 17th

The Westborough public schools are the 17th best among 147 Greater Boston school districts, Boston magazine says.

The magazine's "Best Schools in Boston 2013" list is in the publication's 'Best Schools' issue, which hit newsstands Tuesday.

Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education data was compiled for the rankings, according to the story.

"The schools in the cities and towns that topped our proprietary ranking stood out across 20 different categories, including student-to-teacher ratio, average class size, expenditures per pupil, rate of college matriculation, and results on tests such as the SAT and the MCAS," according to the story.

The top five districts are: Dover, Sherborn, Lexington, Carlisle and Boxborough.

The top five MetroWest districts are: Westborough, 17; Holliston, 18; Hopkinton, 28; Southborough, 30; and Northborough, 39.
