Assabet Bowling Teams Sweep the League

“The pins really fell our way! Who would have thought that in only our second year with a bowling team, we could actually sweep the league at all three team levels,” exclaimed Chuck DuPont, one of the Assabet Valley bowling coaches. “None of our sending districts have bowling teams, so when a couple of students asked me if I’d be willing to help them start a team and then be the coach, I agreed. Now we have myself and John Allard as coaches, and have enough students for three levels of play. The two top levels, our A and B teams, will be competing at the state championships in Great Barrington this coming weekend, and four of our A team members will be competing in the individual state championships out there on Sunday. This has been quite a ride already,” he continued.

Assabet A team won the A division league title knocking off the 5 year champ, Worcester South, 32-4. They finished a record 58 points ahead of both Worcester South and Worcester Tech. Leading the A team for the season was Andrew Hall (Westborough) with a league best 233 average. Also on the team: Alex McMahon, (Hudson) Jarred Beauchemin, (Marlborough) John Sylvester, (West Boylston) and Gary Petrie, (Hudson).

The B team for Assabet won the B division league title outscoring Worcester South, 28-8. They finished 17 points ahead of Bay Path to take the title. Members of the B team: Megan Richardson and Sarah Kant, both from Shrewsbury, Wyatt Doyle, (Clinton), Josh O'Hare, (Hudson) Eriq Ethier, (Cherry Valley), and Jake Gera-Letendre, Hudson.
