Who will run for Westborough Public Library trustee?

Two three-year terms have drawn no interest -- and there's a 5 p.m. Friday deadline for taking out nomination papers for the March 5 annual town ballot, Town Clerk Nancy Yendriga said today.

Incumbents Karen Griegal and Geralyn Kohler have stated they won't seek re-election, Yendriga said.

Three three-year terms on the library board are on the ballot, and incumbent Helena Engberg has taken out papers.

Ten offices are on the ballot: the three library seats; two two-year terms each on the board of selectmen and the school committee; a five-year term on the planning board; a five-year term on the Westborough Housing Authority; and a three-year term on the Westborough Housing Authority.

The deadline for filing papers signed by 50 registered voters with Yendriga for certification is 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Races for selectman and school committee have emerged, as both offices have drawn interest from three residents.

For selectman, incumbents Timothy Dodd and Leigh Emery, and Ruggles Street resident Stephen Faris, have taken out nomination papers. Dodd and Faris had returned their papers as of Wednesday night.

For school committee, incumbents Stephen Doret and Bruce Tretter, and Westminster Way resident Danielle Carrigo, have taken out papers. Doret has returned them.

The remaining offices each have drawn interest from one resident: planning board, incumbent Joanne Mallozzi; housing authority (three years), Whitney Street resident Jill Dupree; and housing authority (five years), incumbent Charles Naples.

Naples has returned his papers. He is finishing a three-year term on the board.

Housing authority member Julie Pappazsis will not seek re-election, Yendriga said.
