Volunteers to Help at Westborough's Bowman Street Conservation Area

About 70 Boston Scientific employees will participate.

About 70 Boston Scientific employees will volunteer at Westborough's Bowman Street Conservation Area on Monday, Assistant Town Planner/Conservation Officer Derek Saari said Friday.

The United Way is coordinating the effort, he said.

Meanwhile, selectmen approved the Sandra Pond Reservoir Watershed timber harvesting contract between Westborough and Forward Enterprise Inc. of Oakham, not to exceed $15,000.

The board is requiring the project to be contained to the scope described at the Oct. 21 special town meeting; any expansion would require conservation commission approval.

"We heard loud and clear some of the folks who were opposed to this. We want to be sensitive to that," Selectmen Chairman George Barrette said.

Saari noted that the $15,000 is part of the $50,000 approved at town meeting.

He said he will update selectmen bi-weekly, in writing and in person.
