Town Hall Move Starts on 'Historic' Note

The Westborough Town Hall will be temporarily vacated for renovation.

"The treasurer/collector's office is still located in the town hall," a note on the Forbes Municipal Building reads.

The Westborough Town Hall will be vacated in three phases during September,  starting Friday, Sept. 6 with the Westborough Historical Commission, town officials said Friday in a press release.

The moves are temporary, to accommodate the town hall renovation.

Voters at the March 16 annual town meeting approved the borrowing of $7,354,063 for the project, which is expected to take 12 to 14 months.

The historic commission's town hall office closes Friday, Sept. 6.

The commission will reopen at the Westborough Public Library on Monday, Sept. 9, town officials said. The commission's office hours while at the library will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

On Friday, Sept. 13, the recreation department's town hall office will close, as will the health department's Forbes Municipal Building office, town officials said.

Recreation moves to the Forbes Community Building, and health to the Central One Federal Credit Union at 40 South St., and both will reopen on Monday, Sept. 16.

The new health hours will be Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8 to 4:30 p.m.; Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to noon.

The moves end on Sept. 27, when the assessing department, town clerk, town accountant, treasurer/collector, selectmen/town manager, town counsel and MIS/GIS offices close, town officials said.

Assessing, the town clerk, accounting and the treasurer/collector will be open at the Forbes Municipal Building on Sept. 30. The rest will reopen that day at the Department of Public Works, at 131 Oak St.

The town's website will have town boards' meeting locations, town officials said.
