Officials React to Possible Westborough Job Creation

Lt. Gov. Tim Murray was in Westborough for an announcement from TotalMobile.

Lt. Gov. Tim Murray was among several state officials to come to Westborough this morning and recognize a local company that plans to add up to 100 jobs over the next two to three years. TotalMobile CEO Colin Reid said the increase will grow the company workforce by nearly tenfold.

"Massachusetts has a proud tradition of innovation, and we are thrilled that TotalMobile is helping us carry that tradition forward into the 21st century global economy," said Murray. "Our administration appreciates the career training opportunities TotalMobile affords young talent, and our current workforce, as it continues to focus on business growth and job creation here in the commonwealth.”

TotalMobile, a United Kingdom based company, has operated in the software industry for 25 years. The company started in northern Ireland, expanding into the United States in early 2008. Murray met with company executives that year and, with the assistance of Massachusetts Office of International Trade and Investment (MOITI), persuaded the company to select Massachusetts over other states for its North American operations.

“Today’s announcement is a testament to the commonwealth’s role as a global destination for business," said Ken Brown, executive director of MOITI. "We thank TotalMobile for their commitment to growing in Massachusetts.”

The company provides software to state and municipal government customers and private industry organizations, including mobile application platforms that allow field workers to capture information and relay it to back office systems, saving on time and travel.

“We believe the opportunity for TotalMobile in North America is huge and the business here can easily grow to the current size of the UK business. That would mean between 75 and 100 staff," said Reid.

"It is always a win-win for all of us when an innovative company such as TotalMobile can thrive and can continue to offer cutting edge technology and services that will contribute to our economic recovery here in the commonwealth," said Rep. Matthew Beaton, R-Shrewsbury.

“It’s exciting to see a new company come to Westborough to grow their business and add much needed jobs,” said Rep. Carolyn Dykema, D-Holliston. “TotalMobile’s investment is great news not only for Westborough, but also for the Metrowest region and Massachusetts.”
