No Takers For 2 Library Seats

Residents faced a 5 p.m. Friday deadline for taking out nomination papers.

Two of Westborough's next three Westborough Public Library trustees won't be on the March 5 annual town ballot.

Only incumbent Helena Engberg took out nomination papers before the 5 p.m. Friday deadline, Town Clerk Nancy Yendriga said Friday night. Engberg has returned her nomination papers and will be on the ballot. Incumbents Karen Griegal and Geralyn Kohler will not seek re-election, Yendriga said.

The top two write-in candidates receiving votes will be offered the seats, the town clerk said.

The candidates need not accept, though, she said.

The trustees and the selectmen would fill each such vacancy by jointly appointing a resident to serve until the spring 2014 election, when the final two years of that term would be on the ballot, she said.
