Boy Scouts Leaving Forbes Community Building For Now

The Congregational Church of Westborough will host the scout meetings during the Westborough Town Hall renovation.

Westborough Boy Scout Troop 100 soon will move its meetings from the Forbes Community Building, Scouting's longtime home, for the duration of the Westborough Town Hall renovation.

The troop will meet at the Congregational Church of Westborough, which chartered it, for the duration, Troop 100 Committee Chairman Jim Rhein said Monday.

The scouts' equipment will move to space offered by an assistant scoutmaster, Rhein said.

Town officials have asked the troop to leave the Forbes Community Building, on East Main Street, by the end of July.

The recreation department will move there from town hall during the renovation, which is expected to start this fall and take 12 to 14 months.

The Forbes Community Building has been used for Scouting for more than 50 years, consistent with the Forbes family's intent, Rhein said.
