Ad Hoc Charter Review Committee Formed

Selectmen have discussed looking at how Westborough's government operates.

A new Ad Hoc Charter Review Committee was formed by selectmen Tuesday night.

Selectmen asked the seven-member group "to improve the town's organizational structure by providing improved accountability and appropriate day to day management authority through the town manager, while allowing boards and committees to focus on policy setting, statutory, planning and regulatory responsibilities, all within the current form of government."

Selectmen, the school committee, the planning board and the advisory finance committee will have one representative each, joined by three residents, selectmen said.

In June, selectmen met with some members of the Massachusetts Municipal Association's Form of Government Committee.
