Westborough Police Arrest Housebreak Suspects Gold-Handed

Two Westborough residents were arrested for allegedly breaking into an Orchard Hill Drive home -- and spraypainting "666" in gold on two vehicles at an Adams Street house -- this morning.

say they caught the suspects gold-handed.

Lucas B. Houghton and a 15-year-old Westborough male both "had large amounts of gold paint on their hands that matched the color in this vandalism" when they were arrested, police said today in a press release.

Police charged both Houghton, 21, of 4 Jacob Amsden Road, and the teenager with breaking and entering at night time with intent to commit a felony, breaking and entering into a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property.

Those charges stem from an Orchard Hill Drive housebreak reported at 1:35 a.m. today, police said.

"The occupants heard noises in their garage and found their garage door partly open and a pocketbook stolen from the trunk of one of their vehicles," police said.

Police said officers initially saw a Jeep Liberty parked down the street. The car left when police returned.

Officer Joshua Croft then found the vehicle on Appleseed Drive, with Houghton allegedly behind the wheel and the teenager in the car too.

Police allege the suspects' pockets had items stolen from the Orchard Hill Drive home.

Police also have charged both suspects with malicious destruction of property.

That charge stems from an Adams Street resident's 5 a.m. Tuesday call to police, reporting "that her two vehicles, a 1999 Chevy Pickup and 2007 Saturn had been spray painted with the number '666' and the glass on the atrium door to their house was smashed," police said.

In addition to allegedly finding paint on the suspects' hands, police allegedly found a can of gold paint at the scene.

Houghton faces arraignment today in Westborough District Court, police said. The teenager, whom police are not identifying due to his age, was released to his parents' custody, and faces arraignment in Worcester Juvenile Court. Police said they arrested him two weeks ago in connection with a stolen motor vehicle.

Involved in the arrest were Sgt. Todd Rossi and Officers Chris Atchue, Paul Pinto and Joshua Croft.
