Westborough Man Accused in Burglary Still in Hospital

A Westborough District Court judge continued Michael D. Turpin's arraignment to Oct. 24, from Thursday. Turpin also was ordered to stay away from the alleged victim and have no contact with them.

A Westborough man's first court date for allegedly breaking into and trashing a neighbor's home was postponed Thursday because he's still hospitalized from foot cuts from the alleged incident.

A Westborough District Court judge continued Michael D. Turpin's arraignment to Oct. 24, from Thursday. Turpin also was ordered to stay away from the alleged victim and have no contact with them.

Attorney Louis Aloise, representing Turpin, had requested a continuance date of Oct. 25 because, he said, Turpin is an inpatient at Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital in Worcester and cannot appear in court, according to court records.

Turpin received severe injuries on both legs during the alleged incident on Sept. 6, Aloise wrote.

Westborough Police have charged Turpin, 44, of 1 Gale Meadow Way, with unarmed burglary, and malicious destruction of property over $250.

Turpin allegedly broke into his neighbor's home at 5 Gale Meadow Way while they were away for the night on Sept. 6, and left glass, water and blood everywhere, police say.

According to the police report, Turpin initially tried entering the home by breaking a garage entrance door with a cobalt blue and gray hammer.

Police say he then broke a kitchen window, and then entered the home by breaking a glass door.

Police say they found the hammer in the shrubs near the home's front entrance.

Turpin allegedly left "bloody footprints" from his property, through 3 Gale Meadow Way and to 5 Gale Meadow Way, police say.

Police discovered the footprints after responding to a 9-1-1 call from Turpin's home at about 1:52 a.m. requesting an ambulance for Turpin, "who was bleeding from his feet," police said.
