The incident happened early Sunday.

By Charlene Arsenault

Westborough firefighters helped respond to a fire in Shrewsbury that displaced some residents early Sunday.

The fire engulfed a three-season porch and extended to the rest of the building at 12 Salisbury St. in Shrewsbury, Shrewsbury Fire Chief Jim Vuona said.

Shrewsbury firefighters responded to the home shortly before 2 a.m.

The fire was knocked down shortly after 2 a.m.

Shrewsbury Fire Capt. Sean Lawlor investigated the fire along with the state fire marshal’s office.

Boylston and Northborough firefighters provided station coverage for Shrewsbury's fire headquarters and Station 2.

No injuries were reported, and residents were displaced due to damage and lack of electricity, Vuona said.

The cause is still under investigation.
