Stop & Shop Security Tackles Alleged Shoplifter

The incident happened Friday at the Lyman Street supermarket.

Security at Westborough's Lyman Street Stop & Shop tackled an alleged shoplifter on Friday, Police Chief Alan Gordon said today.

Police charged the 16 year old male from Southborough with shoplifting and with possession of a Class D drug (marijuana) in the incident, which was reported at 4:20 p.m. Friday, according to the Westborough Police log.

The suspect allegedly had $25 in merchandise, and a bag of marijuana in his pocket, Gordon said.

Store security detained the youth until police arrived. He faces arraignment in Westborough Juvenile Court at a later date.
