Search for Student's Body Temporarily Halted

Rough waters forced searchers to put their recovery efforts on hold.

The search for the body of University of New Hampshire student and Westborough resident Elizabeth Marriott was temporarily halted Sunday due to rough waters in the Piscataqua River, according to WMUR.

Associate Attorney General Jane Young told the television station that the "challenging waters" near Peirce Island in Portsmouth forced searchers to put their recovery efforts on hold. She said her office will be working with other agencies to determine that the next step will be.

Seacoastonline reported that the attorney general's office does not expect to release any further information today.
