Police Recover GPS Stolen From Teacher's Car

A Worcester teen has been charged with receiving stolen property.

A GPS device stolen from a teacher's car at Westborough High School on Monday night allegedly was found in a Worcester teenager's backpack Tuesday, Westborough Police say.

Tyler Carlo was walking on Fisher Street, near Maynard Street, around 9:13 a.m. Tuesday when Officer Domenic Annunziata stopped and questioned him, police said in a press release Tuesday.

Annunziata learned that Carlo was wanted in Plymouth District Court for possession of a Class E drug, police said.

Annunziata brought Carlo to the Westborough Police Station, where police searched Carlo's backpack.

"Inside the backpack, a Garmin GPS was located. Carlo stated a friend gave it to him," but police learned through further investigation that the device was stolen Monday night, police said.

Police charged Carlo, 18, of 70 Bale St., Worcester, with receiving stolen property. He faced arraignment Tuesday in Westborough District Court.

Police said they continue investigating the motor vehicle break-in and the GPS theft.
