Fire Strikes E.L. Harvey Trash Trucks

Three of the trucks were totaled.

Fire struck five E.L. Harvey & Sons trash trucks early Thursday morning, causing about $600,000 in damage, Westborough Fire Lt. Patrick Purcell said Thursday night.

Three of the trucks were totaled in the fire, at 68 Hopkinton Road, Purcell said.

The fire department's fire investigation unit is investigating the incident, he said.

An E.L. Harvey's employee reporting for work called the fire department around 4:08 a.m. to report three trucks "were on fire and two of them were being damaged by heat," Purcell said.

The first Westborough firefighters to arrive saw "all five trucks were on fire," he said.

Three Westborough fire trucks and one Hopkinton fire truck responded to the fire, Purcell said.

Firefighters were at the scene for about three hours, he said.
