Divers Search River for Lizzi Marriott's Body

Portsmouth Police closed down the Peirce Island Road before the dog park to allow NH Fish and Game divers to assist the search for the Westborough woman.

Peirce Island Road has been shut down just before the dog park as divers from the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department search for the body of Lizzi Marriott of Westborough.

NH Fish and Game Major Kevin Jordan said his agency has been working with NH Marine Patrol, State Police and the Coast Guard since the search for the 19-year-old UNH student began on Oct. 12. But Jordan said Tuesday marked the first time that Fish and Game divers were used.

Jordan could not say if NH Fish and Game divers will be requested by the New Hampshire Attorney General's office to return to Peirce Island. A State Police helicopter could also be seen flying over the island to assist the ongoing search effort, which is in its 13th day.

New Hampshire Associate Attorney General Jane Young said Monday that the search area now includes Peirce Island, Portsmouth Harbor and the coastline down to Rye.

She said FBI aircraft will be used every other day this week to provide the Coast Guard and New Hampshire Marine Patrol crews with an aerial component to help locate the body of the 19-year-old University of New Hampshire student who police say was murdered by Seth Mazzaglia in his Dover apartment on Oct. 9.
