Security for next month's Boston Marathon will involve the FBI, Secret Service, and undercover police officers.

The number of law enforcement personnel at the race will double following last year's bombings, according to the Boston Herald.

The security plan will "not be driven by the cost,” Peter Judge, spokesman for the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency, told the Herald.

Other security measures include:
  • Unregistered "bandit" runners who have historically participated in the race will no longer be allowed to do so
  • Runners will be given clear plastic bags for their personal items and will not be allowed to use backpacks
  • There will be security checkpoints throughout the race area
  • The size of water bottles will be limited
  • Costumes with facial coverings will not be allowed

not only that MMD....people are giving them up in an attempt to stop the NEXT attack when their reactions are based on the LAST attack...the only ones who lose with this approach are us.

Sounds like the marathon is going to be like visiting Israel.

Israel is Israel and the United States is the United States. They really can't be compared, at all. It's ridiculous, what they're doing with Homeland Security regarding the Boston Marathon. Ben Franklin had it right when he said "Those who give up liberty for a modicum of security deserve neither." I also might add that Israel and the United States are two totally different places. Israel has had their security policies in place for a reason (not withstanding their inappropriate and brutal occupation of West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem, which they have to end, in order to survive.), plus they're also a much smaller country than the United States. The United States, on the other hand, has never had enemies right smack on its borders, is much, much bigger than Israel, and we're being stupid by putting up security that's totally unnecessary.

Things sure were less complicated back in the day, back when it was an all amateur race.

Really MPLO? We have the enemy dwelling right here in our midst, conniving to maim and kill at any expense and at any opportunity.
