Armed Suspects Target a Westborough Mobile Home

Two people armed with handguns invaded a residence at the Wayside Mobile Home Park and bound and gagged four individuals inside Monday night.

Two people armed with handguns invaded a residence at the Wayside Mobile Home Park and bound and gagged four individuals inside Monday night, Westborough Police said Tuesday.

The suspects stole cash, cell phones and identification during the incident at 165 Turnpike Road, police said in a press release.

"This incident does not appear to be a random act. It appears that this residence was targeted by the suspects," police said.

The four people "had been tied up with plastic zip ties and had their eyes and mouths covered over with duct tape," police said.

The four were: a 40-year-old man residing there; his 23-year-old girlfriend; a 25-year-old man from the Bronx, N.Y.; and a 36-year-old woman from Manhattan. N.Y.

None of the victims were injured, police said.

Police said officers responded to the residence at around 10:12 p.m. Monday for an unknown disturbance.

Police said their investigation showed that the 40-year-old resident "answered a knock at his door expecting his visitors from New York."

"He opened the door and was assaulted by the two suspects," police said.

"He and his girlfriend were then tied up. The two guests from New York arrived shortly afterwards, and they were tied up also."

The resident later escaped, and contacted his girlfriend's father, who called the police.

In addition, a 51-year-old male neighbor was struck by the suspects.

The neighbor "had been calling the residence" and went over after no one answered the phone, police said.

The neighbor escaped, and returned home. Westborough Fire Department paramedics treated his injuries.

Westborough Police Detective Sgt. Glenn McLeod and Detective Steven Tompkins are investigating the incident.
