Alleged Drunk Driver Strikes Stone Wall, Large Tree

The incident happened early this morning.

An allegedly drunk driver's vehicle burst into flames after striking a stone wall and a large tree early this morning, Westborough Police Chief Alan Gordon said today.

Ryan Flory, 22, of 12 Wayside Road, Westborough was standing outside his 1998 Toyota Van -- which was fully engulfed -- when police arrived at the scene, the front lawn of 29 Olde Coach Road, around 2:32 a.m., Gordon said in a press release.

Westborough Fire Department paramedics treated Flory for minor facial injuries at the scene and then transported him to UMass Medical, Gordon said.

The police department's accident investigation shows that Flory was headed west on Bowman Lane, lost control of the van, ran off the road, and then struck the stone wall and the tree, Gordon said.

Officer Joshua Croft arrested Flory and charged him with operating under the influence of alcohol, marked lanes violation and destruction of property.
