Westborough Library Expands Streaming Music, Movie Options

The offerings expand the library's use of Freegal.

Westborough Public Library users who enjoy streaming music and movies could save money by visiting the library's website.

Library Director Maureen Ambrosino said Monday that "registered card holders can download three Freegal Music tracks in MP3 format each week, and stream up to three hours a day at no cost via the library’s website at http://www.westboroughlib.org  anytime day or night. Card holders can also stream three movies/TV episodes per week through Freegal Movies and Television."

The offerings expand the library's use of Freegal, Ambrosino said.

Freegal began promoting the new services a few months ago, she said.

Ambrosino said she then spoke to the library's teen advisory board.

"They were very interested in having the streaming option." she said.

The three hours per day of streaming access "may save our residents some money, if they already subscribe to something like Spotify," Ambrosino said.

"If three hours is enough, they may save some money by doing it through Freegal instead of paying some other service," she said.
