Letter to the Editor: HVAC Work Causing Short Closures at Library

Here is the upcoming schedule.

To the Editor:

Work is continuing on the heating/air conditioning system replacement at the Westborough Public Library, but construction work is causing a few short closures.

The Adult area on the main floor, which was scheduled to re-open on Nov. 3 will not re-open until Nov. 13. Delays due to this week’s storms for the workers and suppliers have caused the work to continue for another week. The staff and trustees realize the closure is extremely inconvenient, especially for library patrons who need computer access. They appreciate the patience of everyone who is affected.

The Children’s Room will be closed on Wednesday, Nov. 7 and Thursday, Nov. 8 so ceiling tiles can be re-installed. It will re-open on Friday, Nov. 9.

On Thursday, No. 8, the library will be open from 4 to 9 p.m. only. Workers will be welding parts of the new system, and it will be unsafe for the public or staff to be there. At 4 p.m., the main floor Reading Room, Young Adult Room, and Circulation Desk will reopen, and will be open until 9 p.m. The Children's Room will remain closed until Friday, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m.

Finally, as a reminder, the library will be closed on Sunday, Nov. 11 and Monday, Nov. 12 for Veterans Day.

Any other unforeseen changes in hours or services will be posted on the library’s website, www.westboroughlib.org, and on the library’s Twitter and Facebook pages. Notifications can come right to your cell phone as well; just text the words Subscribe WestboroughLib to phone number 40404. There’s no cost for text notifications but regular text messaging rates will apply.

The project is coordinated by Reinhardt Associates, and the general contractor is Unicon Inc. For more information, contact the library at 508-366-3050 or email westboro@cwmars.org.
