Westborough Remembers Ronald Nelson

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving at the tail end of World War II.

Ronald C. Nelson, 86, of Millbury, formerly of Westborough, died on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at the UMass Medical Center, University Campus, in Worcester after a period of declining health.

Mr. Nelson was a graduate of the former’s Peter’s High School of Southborough, Class of 1945.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving at the tail end of World War II.  Ron worked for Sweet Life in Northborough for many years as a machine operator, where he was a member of the teamsters Local #170. He was also a past master of the St. Bernard Masonic Lodge, formerly of Southborough. Ron enjoyed parachuting and was a parachute rigger for many years, and had a passion for horse racing.

He leaves his children, Linda Errington, and Stephen Nelson and his wife Marilyn, all of Douglas; Rhonda Evangelou and her husband Fred of Nashua, N.H.; and Paul Nelson and his wife Jackie of Millbury; two brothers, Paul Nelson and Wesley Nelson, both of Colorado; a sister Marjorie Williams of New Jersey; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and an ex-wife, Barbara Lagarino of West Haven, Conn.  

He was pre-deceased by a sister, Nancy Frye.

There will be a funeral home service held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28 at the Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Southborough. Burial will follow in the Southborough Rural Cemetery.
