Obituary: Mary Ann T. Coffey, 86, of Ashland

For more than 40 years, Mrs. Coffey worked as a telephone operator for the former New England Telephone, which became AT&T and later Verizon.

ASHLAND - Mary Ann T. (Amnott) Coffey, 86, of Ashland died Sunday, Oct. 13 2013 after a long period of failing health.  She was the wife of the late Thomas F. Coffey, who died in 2002.  

She was born in Lewiston, Maine, the daughter of the late George and Agnes (Levesque) Amnott and lived much of her life in this area in Milford, Ashland and Marlborough.  

For more than 40 years, Mrs. Coffey worked as a telephone operator for the former New England Telephone, which became AT&T and later Verizon.

She was a longtime member of the Pioneers Club of New England Telephone, and for 10 years was an active member of St. Anne's Church in Southborough.  Mary Ann was dedicated to her family, her church and Roman Catholic faith, especially in her special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

She is survived by one son, James Coffey of Hopkinton; one daughter, Theresa Kerestzes of Wellesley; one brother, Norman Amnott of Arizona; one sister, Irene Giguere of Florida; five grandchildren: Bridget, Caroline, Meredith, Ava and Stephen; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Her funeral mass will be held on Friday, Oct. 18 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anne's Church, 20 Boston Road, Southborough.

Burial will be on Friday, Oct. 18 at 1:30 p.m. in the VA National Cemetery in Bourne.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy at marian.org.

Local arrangements are being handled by the Britton-Summers Westborough Funeral Home, 4 Church St., Westborough.
