Community Remembers William Wilson III

A funeral will be held Thursday.

William W. Wilson III of Natick died on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013 at the Metrowest Medical Center of Natick. He was 78 years old.

Born in Fairmont, W.Va., the son of the late William W. Jr. and Mary C. (Rogan) Wilson, he grew up in Everett and Sudbury, and served in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean War.

He was a graduate of Northeastern University, Class of 1965, worked as a manager of engineering for the Polaroid Corporation for2 7 years and then as an independent consultant for 18 years.

He was a proud resident of Natick for 45 years and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Bill’s favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family.

He also enjoyed playing and watching sports (both professional and his grandkids games) and spending time at the Villages in Florida with his late wife Florence. He was a faithful member of St. Patrick’s Church of Natick and St. Vincent De Paul.

Mr. Wilson was the devoted husband of 57 years to the late Florence M. (Sceles) Wilson; loving father of Stephen W. Wilson and his wife Cristina, Kathleen M. Wenckus and her husband Daniel and Wendy A. Wilson, all of Natick, Debra J. Hebert and her husband Steven of Millbury, Diane M. Tobin and her husband John of Southborough, and Christine Smaldone and her husband Bill of Westborough; the cherished grandfather of nine, and great-grandfather of one; the caring brother of the late Terrance J. Wilson; and is aso survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., will be held at Natick Common on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 9 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Patrick’s Church, 44 East Central St., Natick at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment is private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bill’s name may be made to St. Vincent De Paul, c/o St. Patrick’s Church, 44 East Central St., Natick, MA 01760.
