Community Remembers Margaret Howe

Her funeral service will be held Saturday.

Margaret G. Howe, 89, of Reading and formerly of Wakefield, died Sunday, Dec. 8 at the Bear Hill Nursing Center.

Born in Cambridge on Aug. 7, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Betsy (White) Mack. Mrs. Howe was raised in Somerville and Cambridge and was a graduate of Somerville High School, Class of 1942.

She had been a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Wakefield. She was also a member of the Wakefield Arts & Crafts Society. She enjoyed many summers in Harrison, Maine, and for many years had enjoyed square dancing, roller skating and biking. She was an avid reader.

Mrs. Howe was the beloved wife of Stanley E. Howe for 66 years. She was the loving mother of Janice L. Nute of Westborough, Susan J. Howe and her husband Richard Pepin of Maine, and Judith E. Howe and her husband Arthur Fry of Colorado. She was the sister of the late John and Walter Mack, Helen McKenney, Mary D'Antillio, and Isabella Carroll. She was the devoted grandmother of Michael, David, Jeremy, Peter, and Dorothy Nute.

Her funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church, 8 Lafayette St., Wakefield on Saturday at 11 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m. Arrangements are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home in Wakefield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Messenger Corps of the First Baptist Church, 8 Lafayette St., Wakefield, MA 01880.
