Community Remembers Edward Bilzerian

Funeral services will be held on Monday.

Edward S. Bilzerian, 80, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 29, 2013 at The Health Center at The Willows in Worcester.

He leaves his wife of 58 years Marion (Hoogasian) Bilzerian, along with three sons: Edward J. and his partner Diane Elizabeth Burke of Sutton, Barry L. and his wife Jean (Bedrosian) of Worcester and Peter J. and his companion Sharon Kaiser of Worcester and Westborough. He also leaves four grandchildren, Nicole of Beverly Hills, Calif.; and James, Alexis and Christian, all of Worcester, as well as his great-granddaughter Elliott Lucille Bilzerian. He also leaves a brother-in-law George Manos and nieces and nephew. He was predeceased by his sister, Arlene Bilzerian McCoy Manos.

Mr. Bilzerian was born in Worcester, the son of Jacob Bilzerian and Queene (Hagopian) Bilzerian, and lived in Worcester his entire life. He graduated from South High School and Clark University with a degree in finance and WPI School of Industrial Management. He was a captain of the baseball team at Clark.

He worked 31 years for Bay State Abrasives in Westborough, a division of Dresser Industries, where he was the vice president of finance for many years. He also formed the Bilzerian Consulting Group in his later years. Ed was active in the National Association of Accountants, Worcester Economics Club and the Worcester Chamber of Commerce. He served on the board of the Worcester Airport Commission and Worcester City Hospital and Westborough Savings Bank.

He was involved with the Clark University Alumni Association, Armenian Church of our Saviour Parish Council, Memorial Endowment Fund and Men’s Club. Ed was a former member for many years of Tatnuck Country Club and the Worcester Club.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Willows Healthcare Center of Worcester and the JHC Hospice for the outstanding and compassionate care given to Ed.

Calling hours will be held at Callahan & Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester on Sunday, Dec. 1 from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 2 at 11 a.m. at the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury St., with burial services following at Hope Cemetery.
