Thankgiving Dinner Tradition Enters 43rd Year

The 43rd Annual Westborough Community Thanksgiving Dinner is at 1 p.m. next Thursday at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 17 Willow St.

Volunteering to prepare and serve community members a free Thanksgiving dinner is a Westborough tradition.

Next Thursday marks the 43rd year.

The 43rd Annual Westborough Community Thanksgiving Dinner is at 1 p.m. next Thursday at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 17 Willow St.

As of Wednesday, at least 75 volunteers were expected to "participate setting up, cooking, serving, delivering and cleaning," said Joe Pucciarelli, who is coordinating the event for the fourth year.

"At least another 25 families from the Westborough Women's Club will be involved in cooking dessert," he added.

Anyone interested in volunteering should call Pucciarelli at 508-366-2852.

Organizers expect 125 to 140 guests this year, up from 115 in 2012, Pucciarelli said.

Guests are asked to call 508-366-3000 to make a reservation and schedule free transportation.

The menu will include turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, vegetables, cranberry sauce, cider, and pumpkin pie and assorted desserts.

The civic groups supporting the event are: Knights of Columbus; Westborough Council on Aging; American Legion Post 163; In Your Shoes; Siloam Lodge – AF & AM; Lions Club of Westborough; Westborough Athletic and Social Association; Westborough Civic Club; Westborough Girl Scouts-Girl Scouts of Central and Western Mass.; Westborough Rotary Club; Westborough Professional Firefighters Association; and the Westborough Superior (Police) Officers Association.
