WHS Boosters Hold Fundraiser at Restaurant's Grand Opening

Driving to a new Westborough restaurant on Friday night can support a new Westborough High School athletic van/bus.

The Westborough Athletic Boosters Association will hold a fundraiser during the Grille at Westborough Country Club's grand opening, from 7:30 to 11 p.m. Friday at 121 West Main St.

A $30 donation includes food, and qualifies the guest for raffle drawings and prizes.

The proceeds will support a new athletic van/bus.

"One of Westborough Boosters missions is to support Westborough athletics in a variety of ways, including raising funds when the need arises. Wrapping our fundraising efforts together with a social event brings the community together in a fun and productive way," association President Maura Shunney said during an e-mail interview.     

"We think the new venue at the Westborough Country Club is the perfect place to host the Booster Fall Fundraiser and celebrate The Grille's grand opening.  We are thankful that the new owner of the restaurant has provided this opportunity to Westborough Boosters."

More people than ever are participating in the association's activities, Shunney said, "and the agenda continues to involve fundraising, fielding athletic director requests for financial support, and awarding scholarships."

"2013 also included a Hall of Fame induction ceremony, which generates a great deal of pride and celebrates the tradition and outstanding legacy of Westborough athletics," she added.
