Town, Council on Aging Cut Ties With Friends of Westborough Seniors

Town and Council on Aging officials say the non-profit group won't 'provide a complete accounting' of its finances.

The town and the Westborough Council on Aging have stopped accepting funds from the non-profit Friends of the Westborough Senior Center Inc., citing financial concerns.

The Friends are "refusing to provide a complete accounting of their fundraising activities and expenditures on behalf of the Westborough Senior Center to the Town and Council on Aging," town and council officials said Monday in a press release.

"Until a new organization is formed this Fall, any gifts or donations can be made directly to Westborough Council on Aging, 4 Rogers Road, Westborough, MA 01581," the release states.

The council voted on July 15 to sever its relationship with the Friends, according to the release.

The decisions by the town and the council is "effective immediately," the release states.
