Blanket Fundraiser Raises $1,000 to Support Matt Bruce

Blankets are still available, for $20.

The Boston Red Sox logo, Mickey Mouse and Hello Kitty will help keep Matt Bruce comfortable.

Fifty blankets created by volunteers at Westborough's St. Luke the Evangelist Parish on Monday sold for $20 each, church Youth Minister Gloria Josephs said.

The event raised $1,000 -- so far -- to support Matt Bruce's home health care.

Bruce, a member of St. Luke's, was diagnosed with ALS in July. The 26 year old is a 2005 graduate of Algonquin Regional High School.

More than 100 people attended Monday's fundraiser, including Bruce and his family, Josephs said.

Blankets are available for $20 by calling Josephs at 508-366-8509.
