PHOTOS: A Visit to the Woods at Sandra Pond

After reading about the activity at , I dropped in on the project on a Saturday morning to see for myself.

I took pictures, with the intent of letting the pictures tell the story.

My summation is simple:

• Startling?  Yes.

• Overdue?  Yes.

• Necessary?  Yes.

As one of the worker’s commented, “This has never been done and needs to be. Try planting a garden without tending to it. It’s the same thing.”

I am not an arborist or a forester. What I observed appeared neat and tidy. The work was underway methodically and patiently. There was no evidence of a lack of care for the remaining trees (scuffs or other injury).

The area is clearly changed forever, with the addition of fire roads (aka logging roads) we'll come to treasure as trails.
