Movie Review - The Hangover Part II

I left feeling like I needed to shower.

The Hangover Part II – (2011) Rated -R   Children under 17 require accompanying parent or adult guardian.

The Hangover  (2009) was a great movie, winning the Golden Globe for Best Film – Comedy or Musical.

Returning for Round 2, Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, and Justin Bartha star in the film along with Mike Tyson, who sports a unique facial tattoo creating a buzz prior to the film’s Memorial Day weekend opening.

While The Hangover centered around an outrageous and hysterical Las Vegas bachelor party, the do-over tries to top the first with an unplanned, spontaneous drug induced escapade in Bangkok.

The issue is that the "great" gags were used in the first movie.  Not to be outdone, in the second film, shock is used to make up for a lack of story.

I’m not a prude. The Three Stooges and Porky’s make me laugh to this day. In college, I was in a fraternity…and saw a lot.

The Hangover Part II just doesn’t cut it for me.  Where the first was funny and sophomoric, the second is stupid.

And while it opened to a large box office of $86M(continuing to an estimated $204M as of June 10), it did so on the laurels of the first. It will NOT go down as a great movie. With an estimated production budget of $80M, the 1 hour 42 minute film will go down as a profitable movie.

Yes, I went opening weekend. Yes, there were times I laughed. I left feeling like I needed to shower.

The Hangover Part II was filmed in Los Angeles and on location in Thailand and is a presentation of Warner Bros. Pictures, in association with Legendary Pictures, and is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.
