Westborough Historical Society Offers Cemetery Tour

The Westborough Historical Society will host a tour of Westborough’s Memorial Cemetery from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27 at the cemetery, on West Main Street, across from Westborough Town Hall.

Local history educator and WHS curator Leslie Leslie will explain early Puritan symbols, such as "the death head," and epitaphs.

Memorial
Cemetery is the resting place of Westborough’s early settlers and

Revolutionary War soldiers. It also contains a monument to the town’s
Civil War heroes and a Victorian fountain.  At the entrance to the cemetery are 13 posts representing the 13 original states, given in 1876
by the Village Improvement Society. The tour will follow the local
history program designed for Westborough’s schools.

The historical society will offer refreshments following the tour at
Sibley House, 13 Parkman St.
