Thompson Seeks Return to School Board

He has taken out nomination papers for the two-year term on the March 4 annual town ballot.

Former two-term Westborough School Committee member George Thompson seeks to return to the board on March 4.

Thompson has taken out nomination papers for the two-year term on the March 4 annual town ballot, he told Westborough Patch in an e-mail Saturday.

Karen Henderson currently holds the office, which opened when Bruce Tretter resigned early this summer, just months after voters elected him to a new three-year term. Selectmen and the school committee appointed Henderson, who also had served on the school board, to serve until the March election.

Thompson served on the school committee from 2000 to 2006. He then served on the board of selectmen from 2006 to 2012.

There's a 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10 deadline for taking out nomination papers, Yendriga has said.

There's a 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14 deadline for filing signed nomination papers signed by 50 registered voters, she said.
