4-Year Term on Planning Board May Reach March Ballot

Joanne Mallozzi has resigned. She had said this summer she planned to step down.

A four-year term on the planning board may be added to Westborough's March 4 annual town ballot.

Joanne Mallozzi has resigned, Town Clerk Nancy Yendriga said Friday.

Mallozzi had said this summer she planned to step down. Voters elected her to a five-year term at the March 2013 annual town election.

Town Manager Jim Malloy will ask selectmen Tuesday night to add the four-year term to the March 4 ballot, according to the agenda.

Voters would then elect three members of the five-member planning board in March.

A five-year term and a two-year term are on the ballot.

Incumbent Mark Silverberg has taken out nomination papers for the five-year term. Edward Newton Jr. has taken out nomination papers for the two-year term. Selectmen and the planning board appointed Newton earlier this year to serve until the election, after Trevor Beauregard resigned.
