Now, 3 Planning Board Seats on March Ballot

Selectmen voted Tuesday night to add a four-year term. Joanne Mallozzi resigned, effective Oct. 1.

Three seats on the five-member planning board now are on Westborough's March 4 annual town ballot.

Selectmen voted Tuesday night to add a four-year term to the ballot.

Joanne Mallozzi resigned, effective Oct. 1, from the five-year term she was elected to at the March 5 annual town election, Town Clerk Nancy Yendriga said Wednesday.

A five-year term and a two-year term also are on the ballot.

Both current office-holders have taken out nomination papers. Incumbent Mark Silverberg would seek re-election to the five-year term. Edward Newton Jr. would seek election to the two-year term. Selectmen and the planning board appointed Newton earlier this year to serve until the election, after Trevor Beauregard resigned.

Selectmen accepted Mallozzi's resignation. Selectman Leigh Emery thanked Mallozzi for her service, and called her "really a wonderful asset to the planning board."
