National Honor Society - Day of Service

This fall, my fellow officers and I have decided to organize a day of service for the entire school to get involved with. We named the project  the "Day of Thanksgiving" because we are doing it in the spirit of "giving thanks". National Honor Society members will be dubbed "site coordinators" and will help run individual sites by overseeing the work of Westborough High School student volunteers.

The event will be held on November 16th from 9-12 and we will be sending over over 100 high school volunteers throughout the town of Westboorugh to do a variety of tasks including: leaf raking for elderly and disabled, wheeling around patients at Beaumont, running programs for homeless families at the First United Methodist Church, clearing Charm Bracelet trails for the Boy Scouts of America, helping the DPW with various projects, and going into all Westborough Public Schools to help out with various projects. On the morning of the event, we will have a registration coffee hour from 8:30-9 at Westborough High School by the athletic fields/concession stand.

Our overall mission with this day of service is to put our feelings of gratitude for the town's support into action. We have so much to be thankful for, and the community has had a large part in supporting us as students. We really believe that it is in giving that we receive the most genuine reward, and we are hoping to set an example of service that will inspire others to recognize need, act in service, and as a result, feel the true reward of giving back.

Thank you and be on the look out for us around town!

Sincerely,

Addie Egan
