Vintage Furniture Shop Leaves For Northborough

Patina will be in the shopping center at 276 West Main St., next to the Pickle House Deli.

A vintage furniture shop closed Sunday, and will move from the Westborough rotary to Northborough -- after opening here Dec. 1.

Patina's new home will be 2,000 square feet, about triple the 650-square-foot space at 10 South St., owner Kelly O'Malley said Monday. The new shop will be in the shopping center at 276 West Main St., next to the Pickle House Deli.

"I can showcase more furniture," O'Malley said.

"Plus, I'm coming in with new product lines -- maybe a little more giftware items, home accessories, still the vintage items, unfinished furniture.

"The new space is bigger. It has a separate room that I can do painting classes in, which I'm doing now."

Offering those classes in Westborough meant "moving everything out of the way, setting up a table," O'Malley said.

The Northborough space also will have "a separate room for custom painting," she said.

The business moved to Westborough after a year as the Patina Barn, at O'Malley's Sutton home.

"I found this is a very tough corner. The tree is in the way. People really couldn't see me," she said.

The new Northbotrough space has "better walking-by traffic," she said.

"It's hard with the rotary. People are just concentrating on getting through this rotary."
