Spectrum Health Systems Proposes 100-Bed Facility

The three-story, roughly 38,800-square-foot, building would "replace the existing men's residential treatment facility" at 155 Oak St., according to a Nov. 26 letter from Waterman Design Associates to the board of selectmen.

Spectrum Health Systems Inc. plans a 100-bed residential treatment facility on part of the former Lyman School for Boys site on Oak Street.

The three-story, roughly 38,800-square-foot, building would "replace the existing men's residential treatment facility" at 155 Oak St., according to a Nov. 26 letter from Waterman Design Associates to the board of selectmen.

Spectrum Health Systems proposes demolishing "two existing buildings as well as some existing on-site infrastructure, including the abandoned sewer system," according to the letter.

"An existing barn, from which the proposed building draws many architectural characteristics, will be refurbished at some point in the future to serve as an accessory building for storage of equipment and/or furniture."

The planning board is scheduled to discuss the project at its next meeting, at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Forbes Municipal Building.
