No Medical Marijuana Dispensaries Eyed For Westborough, Apparently
The state Department of Public Health received 14 applications to operate registered medical marijuana dispensaries with Worcester County as "the first county of preference."
It appears none of the medical marijuana dispensaries proposed for Worcester County are for Westborough locations.
Town Manager Jim Malloy said Monday that he had not heard if there are any, but "I’ve been contacted twice but the property that is zoned in Westborough is owned by Herb Chambers and he uses some of it to store vehicles right now."
"I’m not sure he’d find it in his best interest to have a Med MJ dispensary located adjacent (behind) his Honda Dealership...so I’m guessing none are in Westborough," Malloy said.
Asked if he had heard if any of the medical marijuana dispensaries proposed for Worcester County would be in Westborough, Town Planner Jim Robbins replied, "Nothing in Westborough."
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health said Friday that it has received 14 applications to operate registered medical marijuana dispensaries with Worcester County as "the first county of preference."
"Applicants were not required to submit a town in this stage of the application process," DPH Media Relations Manager Anne Roach said.
