New Yoga Studio Caters to "The Average Person"

Cognoscenti Yoga officially opens on Monday at 3 Summer St., next to Villari's Martial Arts Center.

A new Westborough yoga studio's open house on Sunday wasn't possible in 2011.

Cognoscenti Yoga owner Doug Cassinari began practicing yoga in March 2012.

"I was a little in pain from working out, doing some high-intensity workout stuff. And my massage therapist recommended I try yoga," said Cassinari, who also runs a business that installs audio and visual equipment for businesses, which "allowed me to do this."

"It was fantastic. I just took to it. It was amazing. My mind felt better. My body felt better."

Cognoscenti Yoga officially opens on Monday at 3 Summer St., next to Villari's Martial Arts Center.

The studio will serve "the average person off the street," Cassinari said.

The studio's teachers are Cassinari, Tony Gross, Traci D'Antonio and Rebecca D'Onofrio.

The studio is offering foundation and Vinyasa classes. All classes will run 65 minutes.

"We can get a lot done with 65. Our training was based on a 65-minute class," said Cassinari, a Westborough resident, who completed a 200-hour teacher training program in May.

"They're very tight classes, in a good way. This is going to fit into people's schedules better. They're not getting more time in their schedules. They're getting less time.

"This is why this is for the average person who really needs to get something out of it, but has limited time."
