Downtown Has a Piccadilly Again

Piccadilly Place, featuring apartments and commercial space, opened in the former Piccadilly Pub building Tuesday.

Downtown Westborough has a Piccadilly again, in the same, now renovated, building as the previous one.

Piccadilly Place, an apartment and commercial project, opened Tuesday at the Milk Street sites which previously had a Piccadilly Pub restaurant, as well as a Fayco Kitchen Bath Center.

Selectmen Vice Chairman George Barrette and state Rep. Danielle Gregoire (D-Marlborough) cut the ceremonial ribbon. Project and town leaders then toured the building, which is owned by Stonegate Group LLC of Natick.

Stonegate Chief Operating Officer Dean Calivas said that when the developers mentioned to town officials that they were working on "the old Piccadilly Pub building," a "smile would come to their face."

“So, it’s quite natural for us when we tried to come up with a name to name it Piccadilly Place," Calivas said.

"So, welcome to Piccadilly Place.”

The second floor has five apartments, some one-bedroom and others two-bedroom, with the address of 3 Milk St., Calivas said.

The six commercial units, totalling about 7,500 square feet, on the first floor and the lower level, are at 5 Milk St., he said.

"We're very hopeful that this project will act as a model for other downtown redevelopment projects," Calivas said.

Afterward, Calivas said the apartments are ready for occupancy, and have had a number of showings.

The commercial spaces are near completion, ready to be tailored for specific tenants, Calivas said.

The lower level has facets such as a grease trap that would allow it to accommodate a restaurant, he said.
