Friendly's Closes One of Two Westborough Locations
Friendly's files bankruptcy after 76 years.
The Friendly's restaurant located at 96 Turnpike has been closed. The other location in Westborough, 303 Turnpike Rd., remains open.
According to Bloomberg, "Friendly Ice Cream Corp., which opened at the height of the Great Depression with one shop in Springfield, Massachusetts, plans to sell itself at an auction with a Sun Capital affiliate as the lead bidder, according to papers filed today in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington, Delaware."
Friendly's 96 Turnpike road location is one of 63 that have been closed. The larger restaurant located at 303 Turnpike Rd. is one of 424 locations that will remain open.
