Youth of All Ages Hums at the Senior Center

WHS music performs with beauty and life at the Senior Center

I don’t know if you could hear it anywhere else in town Friday night, but the Senior Center on top of hill on Rogers Road was alive with the sound of music. Inside, the place was packed with all ages of youth.

I mean all I had to do was pop open the front door. Eight gorgeously bright smiles greeted me when I pulled my whipped tired body through the front door. Wow, did that turn me around!

And that was without any music. Inside the main room, those with decades of youth were lively chatting among each other while those about to perform, all formally dressed in black and white, were buzzing with anticipatory energy. You could just tell by listening, watching and feeling that everyone there liked – even loved – being together.

Then the music started - all with lots of guts, enthusiasm and beautiful sound. Whether they’re playing instruments, singing, or both, our students just get up and go and, wow, you could see the pride and pleasure reflected on every face in the room. From a professional’s point of view, you could see it also on choral director Allyson Greer Espinosa’s face whether she was out front conducting or watching carefully and connectedly from the wings.

Good stuff all around! Yah, you bet the hill was alive with sound of music – and way much more!
