Corridor Nine Chamber Breakfast: Education Mini-Grants & EClinicalWorks Forward Thinking!

Great, inspirational Corridor Nine Chamber of Commerce Mini-Grant breakfast this morning at the Doubletree Hotel in Westborough! Place was packed with over 200 chamber attendees – gotta’ smile about the always full and enthusiastic crowd.

Morning started with Corridor Vice President Karen Chapman awarding 19 innovative education mini-grants totaling $6500 from an excellent pool of 32 applications from schools in Westborough, Northborough, Southborough, Marlborough and Shrewsbury. Mini-grants were sponsored mostly by local business contributions and supplemented with funds raised through the chamber’s recent recycling drive. Sample winning applications included “Taming Time: Helping Young Children to Understand and Manage Time”, “Journey to Jo’Burg (Johannesburg, South Africa)” and “Getting in the Zone: Self-Regulation and Emotional Control for a Productive School Day”. Great, positive stuff.

Awards were immediately followed by an energetically forward-thinking talk by eClinicalWorks CEO and Co-founder Girish Kumar Nivani who foresaw in 1996 how the power of mobile computing could make healthcare both more personalized and efficient. Westborough-based eClinicalWorks launched in 1999 with 5 physician clients. eClinicalWorks is growing strong and is now the leading US electronic health records maintenance company with a $200 million business helping 60,000-plus physician clients. Again, incredibly terrific stuff!
